Why Produce Lemonade Book?

People often wonder why I give back to the students in the communities I serve. It's because people gave back to me. My entrepreneurial journey began in The Bahamas at age 9, but it really started around 5 when I had to read and explain what I read before I could play my video games. Successful people would give me magazines from their coffee tables to read. That fostered a lifelong love for reading and introduced me to the words 'entrepreneur', 'entrepreneurship', 'marketing', and โ€˜advertising'.

  • Now, did I know I would become one of America's Top Urban Entrepreneurs?

  • Did I foresee being selected as a 'Top 40 under 40' in my 20s?

  • Did I imagine I'd be featured in some of those magazines I read as a child, like Black Enterprise Magazine and Inc. Magazine?

  • Did I anticipate being mentored directly by some of the people in those magazines like Mike Kittredge (Yankee Candle) John Sortino (Vermont Teddy Bear) David Klein (Jelly Belly Jelly Beans)?

  • Did I expect to write articles that would be shared by billionaires like Sir Richard Branson?

  • Did I plan to write a book teaching Entrepreneurship and Marketing?

Lemonade Facts

  • Did I ever think in my 30s Iโ€™d become one of the youngest Presidents of a SCORE Mentors chapter?

  • Did I think Iโ€™d become a paid keynote speaker, delivering speeches at schools and corporate events?

  • Or that in my 40s, I'd start a successful media company, which includes my own magazine (similar to those that inspired me), a digital billboard truck company, a podcast, a content creation service that produces media, a marketing agency and a consulting component that teaches Entrepreneurs/Business Owners/Business Professionals marketing?

  • Did I know Iโ€™d be selected President of an Advertising Club like Ad Club Western Massachusetts?

  • Did I know Iโ€™d create Lemonade Book that would inspire thousands of students of all ages to pursue their dreams?

  • No, but I knew the moment I became successful, I would find a way to give back to the future, just like how those successful people gave back to me, most of whom have no idea how much of an impact they've had on my life.

I know Iโ€™m visual proof of whatโ€™s possible when you believe in yourself, put in the work, listen to mentors, build a good team and stay positive. And I want to share that with the students in the communities I serve. Thatโ€™s why I give back. Itโ€™s for those who are behind me. The future.
