Westfield High Essay Reviews Jan 12 Written By Mychal Connolly “The lemonade book was very good. The book shows so much and teaches a lot. I like it and would read more like these. The book wasn’t very long at 48 pages but in those 48 pages the message was deep and you could easily acquire the skills taught in the book. The book represented business and marketing the skills and what could work and not. There was so much I liked how the book started with Moo sitting on the steps dreaming about the video games then his mother gave him a good idea. The author was showing us that great ideas can come from anywhere and all you have to do is put in that work like Moo did. He made money from working and then bought supplies. Another thing I liked is how Loo and Kayla both stole the idea and still came back to Moo for help after their business failed. The message was clear: teamwork is what makes dreams come true. While reading the book one saying that I liked was “Create Dope Stuff and Stay Sucka Free” This saying stuck with me because what this means is to create something you can offer that people will keep buying and staying sucka free means keeping all of those haters that don’t believe in you away and keeping a clean positive mindset that will help you build a good foundation in a lot of money in the bank account. My final thoughts: this book taught me a lot and I’m gonna be waiting for future books because this book has taught me a lot and I kind of have a basic idea of what Business I want to start in the future.” — A.S. “When our guest speaker, Mychal Connolly Sr., came into our class and gave us a speech about his businesses and just his story in general, he told us many valuable pieces of information to help us thrive in the future. One thing I really liked about him was that he had his own motto– “Create D.O.P.E. stuff, stay sucker free.” To him, this means Deliver Others Positive Energy & Experiences, which is a key to success in his book. In the “Lemonade Book” two of the characters, Moo and Kayla, each started their own lemonade stand in hopes of making money. Moo’s stand had the personality that drew people in, and Kayla’s stand had the good lemonade. Moo was mad at Kayla for taking his idea, but they eventually put their strengths together and made a lemonade stand together.” — A.K. “I thought the Russell family lemonade book was really good. I liked it. It showed a lot of ways and strategies to get money and use it successfully and make it and show how you have to put a lot of work into your business or whatever way of money and don’t give up on your goal and keep going. Also the ways he invested were really smart and they paid off for the business. One of the parts I really liked was when Moo was trying new combinations for his drinks to sell so people wouldn’t get sick of the regular drinks. I also thought the book was a good lesson to keep trying new things and you can make something successful out of it. Also this book shows putting goals out is a good way to accomplish things well. This book showed that sometimes you can use a little bit of help and people around you to be successful and create even better things with some help and people to guide you in the right direction. The main idea of this book is you are never not capable of doing great things. Overall this book was really good.” — D.L. “My thoughts on the book by Mychal Connolly, our guest speaker, is that it helps teach young children and young adults how to market and gain business sense in a fun way using cartoons and an easy to understand topic to teach, (AKA the lemonade stand). One of my favorite part of the book was when Kayla and Loo teamed up against Moo but later on in the book they end up working together after all to become successful combining all their different skills.” — J.S.
